The brand is world-renowned for its traditional Italian confectionery, particularly its torrone (nougat) and its signature mostarda—a unique condiment involving candied fruit preserved in a mustard-flavored syrup. Mostarda is a culinary staple in Northern Italy, traditionally served with boiled meats or cheeses.

While Sperlari has deep Italian roots and continues to manufacture its products in its historical facilities in Cremona and other Italian sites, its corporate ownership has changed hands several times over the decades. After being owned by multinational groups like Hershey's and Cloetta, the brand returned to broader European strategic management. It is currently owned by Katjes International, a German group specialized in the confectionery market that focuses on preserving the heritage labels in its portfolio.
