Gallo is the flagship beer brand of Guatemala and is deeply rooted in the country's national identity. First brewed in 1896 by the Castillo brothers, the beer was originally called 'Lager Bier' before being rebranded as Gallo (Spanish for 'Rooster') due to its iconic logo. It is one of the most recognized Central American beer brands globally.
The beer continues to be produced primarily in Guatemala by Cervecería Centro Americana, S.A. The company remains one of the oldest and largest family-owned businesses in Latin America, maintaining its independence even as many other regional breweries have been acquired by global conglomerates. Gallo is celebrated for its consistent quality, having received multiple international awards such as the Monde Selection Grand Gold Quality Award.
