Nivea is a globally recognized German personal care brand that specializes in body and skin care. The brand was founded in 1911 by pharmacist Oscar Troplowitz, who collaborated with dermatologist Paul Gerson Unna and chemist Isaac Lifschütz. Lifschütz had developed 'Eucerit,' the first stable water-in-oil emulsifier, which became the foundational ingredient for the original Nivea Creme.
Today, Nivea is owned by Beiersdorf AG, a multinational corporation headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. Beiersdorf remains the ultimate owner of the brand. While its corporate roots and research centers are firmly established in Germany, Nivea's manufacturing is decentralized to meet global demand. The company operates numerous production facilities across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, including major sites in Germany, Spain, Poland, Thailand, and Mexico. This widespread production network allows the brand to adapt its formulations to local skin needs and environmental conditions.
