Volcom is a prominent action sports lifestyle brand that was founded in 1991 by Richard Woolcott and Tucker Hall in Newport Beach, California. Rooted in the culture of skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding, the brand became famous for its 'Stone' logo and its slogan, 'True to This.' It transitioned from a grassroots startup into a global powerhouse in the board sports industry.

Over the years, the company has undergone significant leadership and ownership changes. In 2011, it was acquired by the French luxury group Kering. However, in 2019, Volcom was sold to Authentic Brands Group (ABG), a brand management firm headquartered in the United States. Today, ABG oversees the brand's intellectual property and global strategy, while the actual retail and product operations are often managed through specialized partners such as Liberated Brands. Production is global, with manufacturing occurring in various locations across Asia and South America to meet international demand.
