Natural American Spirit tobacco

Natural American Spirit is a premium tobacco brand founded in 1982 by the Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The brand gained a loyal following for its commitment to high-quality, additive-free, and organic tobacco, often distinguished by its iconic Native American imagery and color-coded packaging.

Historically, the brand was a domestic U.S. success before being acquired by Reynolds American in 2002. Ownership is now split by geography: Reynolds American (a subsidiary of British American Tobacco) retains the brand rights within the United States, while Japan Tobacco International (JTI) acquired the international rights in 2015 for approximately $5 billion. Consequently, for products found in Europe or Asia, JTI serves as the ultimate owner and distributor. Manufacturing primarily occurs at dedicated facilities in Oxford, North Carolina, though JTI manages the global supply chain for international markets.
