The Duralex Picardie tumbler is one of the most iconic glass designs in history, often referred to as the "ultimate drinking glass." Its distinctive fluted shape and unparalleled durability have made it a staple in French cafes, schools, and homes worldwide since its introduction in 1954.

Manufactured in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, France, the glass is made using a specialized tempering process. This technique involve heating the glass to approximately 700°C and then cooling it rapidly with blasts of cold air, which makes the glass significantly stronger and thermal-shock resistant compared to standard glassware. Duralex remains a symbol of French utilitarian design and industrial craftsmanship.

In early 2021, Duralex was acquired by International Cookware (later renamed La Maison Française du Verre), which also owns the Pyrex brand license for the EMEA region. This acquisition saved the historic French manufacturer from financial difficulties, ensuring that production remains centered in its original French facility under the ownership of a dedicated housewares group.
