Brunch is a popular brand of cream cheese and yogurt-based spreads that was originally launched in Germany in 1995. It was created to fill a niche for versatile fresh spreads that could be used both as a topping for bread and as a culinary ingredient in cooking. The brand quickly established itself as a staple in German households due to its unique creamy texture and wide range of flavors, from classic 'Natur' to savory 'Kräuter' and 'Paprika'.
In 2003, the brand was acquired by the French dairy giant Savencia Fromage & Dairy (formerly known as Groupe Bongrain) from Unilever (via the acquisition of the Edelweiss subsidiary). Today, Brunch remains a key part of Savencia's portfolio in Central Europe. It is primarily manufactured in the Allgäu region of Bavaria, Germany, specifically at the Edelweiss facility in Kempten, ensuring high-quality local dairy sourcing. The brand continues to be owned by the Bongrain family through their holding company, Soparind, maintaining its status as part of one of the world's leading specialty cheese groups.
