Ichnusa is a renowned Sardinian beer brand that has become a symbol of the island's culture and heritage. Originally founded in 1912 in Cagliari, Sardinia, the name 'Ichnusa' is derived from the Greek name for the island, Hyknusa. The 'Non Filtrata' (unfiltered) version is particularly popular for its fuller body and cloudy appearance, achieved by leaving the yeast in the brew. The label prominently features the 'Four Moors,' which is a historic symbol found on the Sardinian flag.

While the brand maintains a strong regional identity and its primary production remains in the Assemini brewery near Cagliari, Italy, its ownership has transitioned to global scale. Since 1986, Ichnusa has been part of the Heineken N.V. portfolio. This acquisition allowed the brand to expand its reach beyond the shores of Sardinia to the rest of Italy and international markets, while maintaining its recipe and local manufacturing roots.
