Machaquito is a traditional Spanish anise spirit with roots dating back to the mid-19th century. Founded in 1860 by Rafael Reyes Rodríguez in Rute, Córdoba, the brand has maintained an artisan distillation process using copper stills fueled by olive wood and water from the Subbética mountains.

Today, the brand continues to be managed by the family descendants through Hijo de Rafael Reyes S.A., preserving its legacy as one of the most iconic spirits of Andalusia. Research indicates the company remains independent and family-owned, focused on traditional production methods in its original location in Rute.
