HP Sauce brown sauce

HP Sauce, often referred to as 'The Original' brown sauce, has a storied history dating back to 1895 when it was created by Frederick Gibson Garton in Nottingham, England. The brand's name, which stands for Houses of Parliament, was chosen because it was reportedly served in the refreshment rooms of the iconic British institution. While it is deeply rooted in British culinary culture and remains an iconic staple of the British breakfast, the production of HP Sauce underwent a significant change in 2007.

Following the acquisition of the brand by the American multinational H.J. Heinz Company, production was moved from the famous Aston Cross factory in Birmingham to Elst, Netherlands. Today, HP Sauce is owned by Kraft Heinz, a global food and beverage giant formed by the merger of Kraft Foods and Heinz in 2015. Although the product is strongly associated with the United Kingdom, its manufacturing currently takes place in the Netherlands to serve the international market.
