CeraVe is a globally recognized skincare brand founded in 2005 in the United States by a team of dermatologists in collaboration with researchers. The brand's identity is built on its focus on ceramides and its patented MultiVesicular Emulsion (MVE) technology, which allows for a controlled release of moisturizing ingredients over time. It was originally launched under the pharmaceutical company Valeant Pharmaceuticals (now Bausch Health) before becoming a major player in the mass-market dermatological sector.

In 2017, the brand was acquired by the French beauty conglomerate L'Oréal for approximately $1.3 billion. Since the acquisition, L'Oréal has significantly expanded CeraVe's international presence, making it a leading brand within its L'Oréal Dermatological Beauty division. As of 2026, the brand remains a subsidiary of L'Oréal and continues its legacy of providing science-backed, dermatologist-recommended products at accessible price points.

Manufacturing of CeraVe products takes place in multiple locations to meet global demand. While a significant portion of production occurs in the United States and France, there are also manufacturing operations in other regions, including China, to support local markets. Despite the change in ownership and global manufacturing footprint, the brand maintains its original formulations focused on essential ceramides (1, 3, and 6-II) and skin barrier health.
