Quorn is a globally recognized leader in the meat-free food category, famously utilizing mycoprotein as its core ingredient. The brand's origin dates back to the 1960s in the United Kingdom, stemming from a research project initiated by Lord Rank to find sustainable food sources. This led to the discovery of the fungus Fusarium venenatum, which is fermented to produce the unique protein used in all Quorn products today.

Manufacturing remains centered in the UK, with major production facilities located in Belasis, Billingham, and Stokesley in North Yorkshire. The fermentation process for the mycoprotein takes place in giant fermenters located specifically at the Billingham site. From here, the protein is processed into various forms like pieces, fillets, and sausages for distribution to international markets.

While Quorn was originally a joint venture between Marlow Foods and Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), it has undergone several ownership changes over the decades. Today, the brand is owned by Monde Nissin Corporation, a major food and beverage conglomerate based in the Philippines. This ownership provides Quorn with a robust global platform for growth as consumer demand for sustainable and vegetarian protein sources continues to rise globally.
