First brewed in 1925 by Cervecería Modelo in Mexico City, it quickly became a staple of Mexican identity and eventually one of the most recognized beer brands globally. Known for its distinctive clear bottle and the tradition of serving it with a lime wedge, Corona represents a relaxed, beach-oriented lifestyle.

Today, the brand's ownership is split due to antitrust regulations. Inside the United States, the brand is owned and produced by Constellation Brands. For the rest of the world, it is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world's largest brewing company. While most production remains in Mexico to maintain its authentic 'Imported' status in key markets, AB InBev has also expanded local production in various international markets like China, Colombia, and the United Kingdom to meet global demand and reduce environmental impact.
