Bisto Gravy

Bisto is one of the most iconic British food brands, famously known for its gravy granules and powder. The product was first created in 1908 by Roberts & Patterson as a way to make the process of making smooth gravy much simpler for households. The name Bisto is actually an acronym for 'Browns, Irons and Seasons Two-fold,' referring to its ability to both colour and flavour a dish.

Over the decades, Bisto has become a staple of British Sunday lunches and comfort food cultural identity. Originally a product of the Cerebos company, the brand changed hands several times through corporate acquisitions involving RHM (Rank Hovis McDougall). Today, it is a flagship brand under the Premier Foods portfolio.

Manufacturing remains concentrated in the United Kingdom, primarily at the Premier Foods facility in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, which is one of the largest dry food manufacturing sites in Europe. The brand continues to dominate the UK gravy market and is exported globally to regions with significant British expat populations.
