Pripps Blå is one of Sweden's most iconic and historic beer brands, originally tracing its roots back to 1828 when Johan Albrecht Pripp founded the Pripps brewery in Gothenburg. Over nearly two centuries, the brand has become a staple of Swedish beer culture, known for its light profile and nautical-themed branding featuring a sailing ship.
The brand's ownership has changed significantly over the decades. In 2000, Pripps merged with the Norwegian brand Ringnes, and was subsequently acquired by the Danish brewery giant Carlsberg Group in 2001. Today, Pripps Blå is manufactured in Sweden, primarily at Carlsberg Sweden's brewery in Falkenberg, ensuring its local heritage remains central to its production. Under Carlsberg's stewardship, Pripps continues to be a market leader in the Swedish beverage sector.
