Trader Joe's Spiced Chai is a specialty black tea blend featuring Assam tea and a variety of exotic spices. As a private label product, it is developed specifically for Trader Joe's, a grocery chain that focuses on unique, often exclusive, products under its own branding.

The brand originated in the United States, tracing its roots back to a convenience store chain named Pronto Markets, which was rebranded as Trader Joe's in 1967 by Joe Coulombe. While the tea ingredients like Assam black tea are sourced internationally from India, the product itself is assembled and packaged primarily in the United States for the North American market.

Ownership of the brand is held by the Albrecht family of Germany. Following a split in the Aldi company generations ago, the owner of Aldi Nord acquired Trader Joe's in 1979. Today, it remains a privately held company under the umbrella of the Aldi Nord group, maintaining its distinct operational independence from the Aldi grocery stores found elsewhere.
