Planta vegetable spread

Planta is a traditional brand of vegetable margarine well-established in the Portuguese market. Originally created as part of the Unilever portfolio, the brand was developed as a plant-based alternative to butter, focusing on cholesterol-free cooking and spreading options.

In 2018, Unilever sold its entire global spreads division to the private equity firm KKR, which led to the creation of Upfield. Today, Upfield is the world's leading producer of plant-based spreads and cheeses. In Portugal, the brand is managed and distributed by Upfield Portugal (Sales), Unipessoal Lda., ensuring that manufacturing meets local dietary preferences and regulatory standards while leveraging a global supply chain.
