Norlys is Denmark's largest integrated energy and telecommunications group. The brand was established through a significant merger between the two regional energy companies, SE (Syd Energi) and Eniig, which officially joined forces in 2019 to create a national powerhouse in infrastructure.
As a conglomerate, Norlys provides electricity, gas, internet connectivity (through its extensive fiber network), and television services to more than one million Danish customers. The company is structured as a cooperative, which means it is owned by its customers through regional representatives. This ownership model ensures that profits are redistributed back into the infrastructure and community services rather than being directed toward external private shareholders.
Operating primarily within the Danish borders, Norlys has expanded its reach through strategic acquisitions, including the purchase of Telia's Danish operations in 2024. This move further solidified its position as a major competitor in the mobile and broadband markets, bridging the gap between traditional energy utilities and modern digital communications.
