M·A·C Cosmetics, short for Make-up Art Cosmetics, was originally founded in Toronto, Canada, in 1984 by Frank Angelo and Frank Toskan. Initially created for makeup artists and photographers, it quickly became a global powerhouse in the beauty industry known for its inclusivity and professional-grade formulas.
The brand was acquired by The Estée Lauder Companies in stages, with full ownership reached by 1998. Today, while M·A·C has a massive global presence, the majority of its liquid products, including the Fix+ setting spray line, are manufactured in the United States. The brand remains a leading subsidiary of the New York-based Estée Lauder group, continuing to innovate in the prestige beauty sector.
