The brand was originally established in the United States in the 1950s by Dr. Robert W. Huston, who invented a soft nylon-bristle toothbrush that revolutionized oral care. Today, Oral-B is part of a complex manufacturing network. Its electric toothbrushes are primarily engineered and manufactured in Germany (the former headquarters of Braun), while manual brushes and oral care consumables like toothpaste and floss are produced in various locations worldwide, including the United States, Mexico, and China. Since 2005, the brand has been under the ultimate ownership of Procter & Gamble (P&G), following P&G's acquisition of the Gillette Company. This acquisition integrated Oral-B into one of the world's largest consumer goods portfolios, operating under P&G’s Global Health Care segment.
