Lotus Biscoff is a globally recognized brand of caramelized speculoos biscuits. The original recipe was created in 1932 by Jan Boone Sr. in Lembeke, Belgium. The name 'Biscoff' is famously a portmanteau of 'Biscuit' and 'Coffee', reflecting the product's long-standing positioning as the perfect accompaniment to a hot drink.

Historically, all Lotus Biscoff production was concentrated in Belgium. However, to meet growing global demand, the parent company opened its first manufacturing plant outside of Belgium in Mebane, North Carolina, USA, in 2019. Despite this expansion, the brand remains firmly under the control of the original founding family's company, Lotus Bakeries NV.

Lotus Bakeries remains a publicly traded company on Euronext Brussels, with the Boone family maintaining a significant majority of the voting rights. The brand has expanded beyond its signature biscuit into cookie butter spreads, ice creams, and sandwich cookies, maintaining its distinct crunchy texture and caramelized flavor profile across all product lines.
