Palmolive is one of the oldest and most recognized personal care brands in the world, tracing its origins back to 1898. The brand was founded in Wisconsin, USA, by the B.J. Johnson Soap Company, which introduced a soap made entirely of palm and olive oils. This innovative formula was so successful that the company renamed itself the Palmolive Company in 1917.
Over the decades, Palmolive expanded its lineup to include dishwashing liquids, shampoos, and body washes. In 1928, it merged with Peet Brothers to form Palmolive-Peet, which then merged with the Colgate Company to create the modern global giant, Colgate-Palmolive. Today, the brand's products are manufactured in dozens of countries worldwide to serve local and regional markets, including facilities in Mexico, Thailand, and the United States.
As of 2024 and beyond, the brand remains a flagship property of the Colgate-Palmolive Company. Headquartered in New York, the company is a global leader in oral care, personal care, home care, and pet nutrition, distributing Palmolive products through various subsidiaries across every continent.
