Mackmyra Single Malt Whisky

Mackmyra Single Malt Whisky is a premium Swedish whisky produced by Mackmyra Svensk Whisky AB, a pioneering distillery established in 1999. The distillery was founded by eight friends who envisioned creating a Swedish malt whisky that reflects the country's unique character. They began by sourcing locally grown barley and pure spring water, and developed a distinctive 30-liter cask to enhance the maturation process. A notable feature of Mackmyra's production is the use of juniper wood in the malting process, imparting a characteristic smoky aroma reminiscent of traditional Scandinavian food preservation methods. The whisky is aged in various unique environments, including the Bodås mine, located 50 meters underground, which contributes to its distinctive flavor profile. In August 2024, Mackmyra filed for bankruptcy but was subsequently acquired by Lennart Hero and No. 1 Capital AB, ensuring the brand's continuity and future development. The new ownership aims to retain existing staff and expand Mackmyra's presence on the global stage.
