Buitoni pasta and sauces

Buitoni is a historic Italian food brand founded in 1827 by Giulia Buitoni in Sansepolcro, Tuscany. Originally starting as a small pasta shop, the brand gained international fame for its high-quality pasta and innovation. For many decades, it was a family-run business before being acquired by Nestlé in 1988.

Today, the brand's ownership is split by region. In North America, the Buitoni business was acquired from Nestlé in 2020 by the private equity firm Brynwood Partners, which formed the Buitoni Food Company. In late 2025, this North American division was further acquired by Artisan Chef Manufacturing Co., led by entrepreneur Joe Faro. In Europe and other global markets, Nestlé remains the ultimate brand owner, although it has transitioned away from dry pasta to focus primarily on refrigerated products and frozen pizzas.

Manufacturing occurs in several locations worldwide to serve local markets. In the United States, primary production is centered at a large facility in Danville, Virginia. In Europe, production has historically been based in Italy and France, though some specific product lines, like frozen pizzas, have faced facility changes or licensing agreements with third-party manufacturers like FRoSTA AG in Italy.
