Dr. Karg's Knäckebrot is a traditional German crispbread produced by Dr. Klaus Karg GmbH & Co. KG, a family-owned bakery based in Schwabach, Bavaria. Founded in 1950 by Hans Karg, the company has been dedicated to crafting high-quality, natural snacks. In 1997, Dr. Klaus Karg, the founder's son, took over the business, introducing innovative ideas while maintaining traditional baking methods. Under his leadership, the company expanded its product range and achieved organic certification in 1998. In 2000, Dr. Karg's Knäckebrot was introduced to the market, with the Emmental Cheese & Pumpkin Seed variety becoming particularly popular. In 2024, the company formed a partnership with the Italian family-owned business Colussi S.p.A., uniting their passion for innovative and high-quality snacks. As of January 31, 2026, Dr. Klaus Karg stepped down as CEO, and Colussi S.p.A. assumed sole management of Dr. Karg's.
