The brand was first introduced to the United States in the late 1980s by the Harrison family, who had previously owned the recipe through their tequila production business. It is easily recognized by its signature round wooden cap, which is made from beechwood and serves as a hallmark of the brand's authentic identity.

While the sauce remains exclusively manufactured in Jalisco, Mexico, to maintain its traditional flavor profile and quality, its ownership has transitioned to global scale. In 2020, the brand was acquired by the American spice and condiment giant McCormick & Company from the private equity firm L Catterton. Today, it stands as a premium staple in the hot sauce category, distributed globally across North America, Europe, and beyond.
