Appletiser is a premium sparkling fruit juice brand known for its 100% juice content and signature glass bottle and green can packaging. The brand was famously founded in 1966 by Edmond Lombardi in the Elgin Valley of the Western Cape, South Africa. Lombardi developed a unique process for creating a carbonated, clear apple juice without added sugar or preservatives, which quickly became a staple in its home market and eventually gained international acclaim.
Over the decades, the brand's ownership transitioned as it expanded globally. While it was long associated with SABMiller, a major milestone occurred in 2016 when The Coca-Cola Company reached an agreement to acquire the Appletiser brand. This acquisition included the rights to the brand in many international markets and eventually consolidated its presence under the Coca-Cola portfolio globally.
Today, Appletiser is manufactured in various locations to serve different regional markets. While it maintains its strong heritage in South Africa, where it is still produced for the African market, it is also manufactured in Europe and the United Kingdom via Coca-Cola Europacific Partners. This localized production strategy allows the brand to maintain its presence as a sophisticated alternative to traditional soft drinks across more than 20 countries.
