Lan Crianza 2021 Rioja red wine

Lan Crianza 2021 is a red wine from the Rioja region in Spain, produced by Bodegas LAN, a winery established in 1972. The wine is a blend of 93% Tempranillo, 2% Mazuelo, and 5% Garnacha grapes, sourced from 10 to 20-year-old vineyards in the Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa subzones. These vineyards are situated on sloped plots with calcareous-clay soils, providing good drainage and sun exposure. The grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures, followed by maceration for 15 days to extract color and tannins. The wine is aged for 14 months in hybrid oak barrels (French oak bases with American oak staves) and then further aged for 9 months in the bottle before release. This aging process imparts flavors of red fruits like strawberry, raspberry, and peach, complemented by notes of vanilla, caramel, and a subtle hint of cinnamon. The wine is known for its balanced palate, silky tannins, and a long, satisfying finish.
