Asda supermarket chain

Asda Stores Limited, commonly known as Asda, is a British supermarket chain headquartered in Leeds, England. Founded in 1949 as Associated Dairies and Farm Stores, it expanded into supermarkets in 1965 and was acquired by Walmart in 1999. In 2021, Asda was acquired by TDR Capital and the Issa brothers, with Walmart retaining an equity investment and ongoing commercial relationship. Asda operates over 1,100 stores across the UK, offering groceries, general merchandise, and financial services. The company has a 12.6% share of the UK grocery market as of January 2025.
