The company was founded by the Swiss Cloetta brothers—Bernard, Christopher, and Nutin Cloëtta—in Copenhagen, Denmark. They initially established 'Brødrene Cloëtta' to manufacture chocolate and confectionery products. In 1917, the Svenfelt family acquired a majority stake in the company through Svenska Chokladfabriks AB, and they have maintained significant ownership interests in Cloetta to this day. Cloetta's product range includes well-known brands such as Kexchoklad, Center, Plopp, Polly, and HEJA. The company operates production facilities in Sweden, including locations in Ljungsbro and Alingsås, and employs approximately 2,600 people across its operations. Cloetta's products are available in several European markets, including Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK.
