Sensodyne is a globally recognized oral care brand specialized for consumers with dentin hypersensitivity. Originally launched in 1961, the brand was developed to address the specific needs of sensitive teeth using active ingredients like potassium nitrate or stannous fluoride. It has since expanded its product line to include whitening benefits with specialized lines like Clinical White, which aims to provide safe whitening without increasing sensitivity.
Modern production of Sensodyne toothpaste occurs in multiple manufacturing hubs worldwide to meet regional demand, including facilities in Europe, North America, and Asia. The brand's development was originally spearheaded by Block Drug, a US-based pharmaceutical company. Through a series of acquisitions, the brand became a flagship product for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). In 2022, GSK spun off its consumer healthcare division into a new independent company called Haleon. Today, Haleon manages the brand globally, focusing on health-tech and oral hygiene innovation for the long term.
