Epson printers

Epson, officially known as Seiko Epson Corporation, is a Japanese multinational electronics company headquartered in Suwa, Nagano, Japan. Founded on May 18, 1942, as Daiwa Kogyo, Ltd., the company initially focused on manufacturing watch parts for Daini Seikosha, a part of the Seiko Group. In 1968, the company introduced the EP-101, the world's first compact digital printer, marking its entry into the printing industry. The name 'Epson' was coined in 1975, derived from 'Electronic Printer' and 'son,' symbolizing the company's ambition to produce many 'sons' of this original innovation. Over the years, Epson has expanded its product range to include inkjet, dot matrix, thermal, and laser printers, as well as scanners, personal computers, projectors, watches, smart glasses, semiconductors, and other electronic components. In 2009, Epson acquired Orient Watch, a Japanese watch manufacturer, integrating it into its operations. As of 2025, Epson continues to operate as an independent entity within the Seiko Group, with the Hattori family holding approximately 10% of its outstanding shares.
