McVitie's Milk Chocolate Digestives

McVitie's Digestives are one of the most iconic British biscuits, first developed in 1839 by Robert McVitie. The 'Digestive' name was originally derived from the belief that the high baking soda content served as an aid to digestion. The chocolate-coated version, seen here, was launched in 1925 and has remained a staple of British tea culture ever since.

While the brand is deeply rooted in Scottish and English history, it is currently owned by pladis, a global snacking company. The majority of McVitie's products sold in the UK are still manufactured at domestic factories, primarily the historic Harlesden site in London, which is one of the largest biscuit factories in Europe. However, due to the brand's global footprint, production also occurs in other international hubs to serve local markets.
