Mayfair is a prominent brand of cigarettes that was originally introduced to the United Kingdom market in 1992. It was positioned as a high-quality 'value' brand, providing consumers with a premium smoking experience at a more accessible price point compared to traditional luxury brands. Over the decades, it has become one of the most recognizable cigarette labels in the UK and Ireland.
Ownership of the brand has transitioned through major industry consolidations. While it was launched by Gallaher Group, it is now globally owned and managed by Japan Tobacco International (JTI). Most production for the European and UK markets currently takes place in large-scale manufacturing facilities in Poland, following the closure of traditional production sites in Northern Ireland.
Today, Mayfair continues to be a core part of JTI's international portfolio. The brand's parent company, Japan Tobacco Inc., is one of the largest tobacco companies in the world, maintaining a heavy focus on international expansion and product regulation compliance across diverse global markets.
