Vogue is a world-renowned fashion and lifestyle magazine with a history spanning over a century. It was originally founded in 1892 by Arthur Baldwin Turnure in New York City as a weekly social gazette for the local elite. In 1909, the brand was acquired by Condé Montrose Nast, who transformed it into the monthly women's fashion powerhouse it is known as today. Over the decades, Vogue expanded internationally, launching British Vogue in 1916 and subsequently establishing editions in dozens of other markets including Italy, France, and India.
Today, Vogue is owned by Condé Nast, a global media company that is itself a subsidiary of Advance Publications, a private media empire owned by the Newhouse family. While editorial direction for American Vogue was led for decades by Anna Wintour, recent leadership changes in 2025 saw Chloe Malle take over as head of editorial content for the U.S. edition, while Wintour transitioned into a broader role as Global Editorial Director. The magazine is produced and printed in various countries around the world to serve its 28+ international editions, reflecting its status as a global authority on style and culture.
