Iglo is one of Europe's most iconic frozen food brands. It was originally established in Germany and the United Kingdom as a frozen food label under the Anglo-Dutch conglomerate Unilever. The brand became famous for its high-quality frozen vegetables and its signature 'Fish Fingers,' introduced in the mid-1950s. Over the decades, it expanded across Western Europe, becoming a household name synonymous with convenience and freshness.

Manufacturing and Sourcing

Manufacturing takes place in multiple countries across Europe to ensure proximity to food sources. Key facilities are located in Germany (Bremerhaven), Italy, and the United Kingdom. Iglo is known for its 'frozen-at-sea' or 'field-to-fork' efficiency, ensuring that produce like peas are frozen within hours of harvest to preserve nutrients. The brand strictly follows sustainable fishing practices, often carrying MSC certification.

Ownership Structure

In 2006, Unilever sold the Iglo brand to Permira, a private equity firm, which formed the Iglo Group. Later, in 2015, the brand was acquired by Nomad Foods, a British-headquartered company founded specifically to consolidate the frozen food market in Europe. As of 2026, Nomad Foods remains the ultimate owner of Iglo, managing it alongside other famous brands like Birds Eye and Findus.
