Napapijri is an Italian clothing brand founded in 1987 by Giuliana Rosset in Aosta, Italy. Initially, the brand specialized in high-quality travel bags, with the Bering Bag being its first product. Over time, Napapijri expanded its product range to include outerwear, apparel, accessories, footwear, and travel bags. The brand's name, derived from the Finnish word "napapiiri," meaning "Arctic Circle," reflects its inspiration from polar expeditions. The Norwegian flag is also closely linked to the brand's DNA, representing Europe's northernmost country and the birthplace of some of the great explorers of the 20th century. In 2004, Napapijri was acquired by the U.S.-based VF Corporation, which also owns brands like The North Face, Vans, and Timberland. VF Corporation is headquartered in the United States. The brand's product range includes coats, jackets, fleeces, sweatshirts, t-shirts, trousers, bags, and accessories. Napapijri is known for its commitment to sustainability, having replaced animal fur with eco-fur made of synthetic fibers in 2015/16 and introduced a line of circular-based products in 2019 and 2021. In 2023, the brand collaborated with marine advocates to create the documentary "Orcas in the Arctic" about the critical role of orcas in the Arctic ecosystem.
