La Chouffe Blonde Ale is a renowned Belgian blonde ale, first brewed in 1982 by Brasserie d'Achouffe, a small brewery located in the Ardennes region of Belgium. Founded by brothers-in-law Pierre Gobron and Christian Bauweraerts, the brewery began as a hobby and quickly gained popularity for its distinctive beers. The name 'La Chouffe' is inspired by local legends of gnomes inhabiting the area, with the iconic gnome on the label symbolizing this folklore. In 2006, Brasserie d'Achouffe was acquired by Duvel Moortgat Brewery, a prominent Belgian brewing company, which has since facilitated the global distribution of La Chouffe beers. Despite the acquisition, the brewery continues to operate in Achouffe, maintaining its traditional brewing methods and local production. The beer is characterized by its hazy orange appearance, a pleasant foam head, and a taste profile featuring spicy, refreshing floral notes. It has an alcohol content of 8% and is brewed with coriander, adding a unique twist to its flavor. La Chouffe Blonde Ale is enjoyed worldwide and is often paired with dishes like fennel, broccoli, asparagus, pan-fried veal, chicken, quail, smoked salmon, tuna, lobster, mussels, and seasoned sushis.
