Cocio Dark Chocolate Milk

Cocio is a legendary Danish chocolate milk brand that has maintained a high standard of quality since its inception in 1951. Originally founded by Anker Pallesen in the city of Esbjerg, the brand became famous for its simple three-ingredient recipe: fresh milk, cocoa, and sugar. This unique blend is cooked in its bottle, which allows the sugar to caramelize and gives Cocio its distinctively rich and creamy flavor.

Historically, the brand grew from a local gem into a national icon, often paired with hot dogs at Danish sausage stands. Over the decades, ownership shifted; it was briefly owned by the American Borden Food Corporation in the 1970s before being brought back to Danish hands. In 2008, the brand was fully acquired by the dairy cooperative Arla Foods.

Today, Cocio continues to be produced at its dedicated factory in Esbjerg, Denmark. Under Arla Foods' ownership, the brand has expanded its global reach, exporting to various European markets and recently entering the United States. Despite its growth, the core production remains anchored in its hometown, preserving the authentic Danish heritage and the original 1951 recipe.
