Teensy is a complete USB-based microcontroller development system, in a very small footprint, capable of implementing many types of projects. Originally developed by PJRC (Paul Stoffregen and Robin Coon), the brand has become a staple in the maker and DIY electronics community due to its processing power and compatibility with the Arduino IDE.
All Teensy boards are designed and manufactured by PJRC in the United States. Unlike many other development boards that are mass-produced in low-cost manufacturing hubs, PJRC maintains strict control over the production and quality of Teensy boards through their Oregon-based operations.
Ownership remains entirely with the founders under the PJRC banner. As of 2026, the brand continues to operate independently, focusing on high-performance microcontrollers that serve specialized needs in robotics, audio processing, and custom HID devices.
