Hotpoint is a historic appliance brand with a complex global ownership structure that varies by region. The brand was originally founded in 1911 in Ontario, California, following the invention of the first electric iron that stayed hot at the point. This innovation gave the company its name and laid the foundation for its expansion into a wide range of kitchen and laundry appliances.

Today, the brand's manufacturing and ownership are split between North America and Europe. In North America, the Hotpoint brand is part of GE Appliances, which is owned by the Chinese multinational Haier. Many Hotpoint products sold in the United States, particularly dishwashers and refrigerators, are manufactured at the massive Appliance Park facility in Louisville, Kentucky.

In Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, the brand's history took a different path. It was long associated with the British company GEC and later Indesit. Currently, Beko Europe (a joint venture majority-owned by Arçelik) manages the brand in these regions. Manufacturing for the European market often takes place in countries such as Italy, Poland, and Turkey, maintaining a strong international presence across several continents.
