Becel ProActiv is a specialized plant-based margarine designed to help lower cholesterol levels through the inclusion of plant sterols. The brand has a long history, originating from the research and development efforts of the Anglo-Dutch multinational Unilever in the 1960s. The name 'Becel' itself is derived from the acronym 'BCL' (Blood Cholesterol Lowering).

In 2018, Unilever sold its global spreads business to the private equity firm KKR, which established the company Upfield to manage these iconic brands. In September 2024, Upfield was renamed to Flora Food Group. The product is manufactured in various locations globally to serve local markets; for the European market, a significant portion of production occurs in Kleve, Germany, following the consolidation of several regional facilities. Other major sites include manufacturing centers in North America and Asia to support international distribution.
