Lion bar is a popular chocolate bar originally launched in 1976 by the British confectionery company Rowntree's in Fawdon, Newcastle. The brand became part of the Nestlé portfolio in 1988 when Nestlé acquired Rowntree Mackintosh. Following the acquisition, much of the production was transitioned to Nestlé's facilities in Dijon, France.
Today, the Lion brand is a global staple in the confectionery market, owned by the Swiss multinational Nestlé S.A. While it remains a quintessentially British-invented snack, its manufacturing footprint is international, serving over 40 countries. The 'Brownie Style' variant is a modern extension of the classic recipe, combining the signature wafer and caramel with brownie-flavored elements.
