CineStill 800T is a unique color negative film that has gained a cult following in the analog photography community for its cinematic aesthetic. The brand was founded in 2012 by brothers Brandon and Brian Wright in Los Angeles, California. The product itself is born from a collaboration with Eastman Kodak; it starts as Kodak Vision3 500T motion picture film. To make it usable for standard still photography labs, CineStill removes the 'Remjet' anti-halation backing, a process that gives the film its signature 'halation'—a glowing red effect around highlights and light sources.

While the raw emulsion is manufactured by Kodak in the United States (specifically at the Eastman Business Park in Rochester, New York), the subsequent chemical modification, finishing, and packaging into 35mm, 120, and large format sizes are handled by CineStill. The brand remains independently owned by its founders through CineStill Inc., which continues to operate out of Hollywood, California, driving the modern 'Analog Renaissance.'
