Den Gamle Fabrik, which translates to 'The Old Factory,' is one of Denmark's most iconic brands for fruit preserves and jam. Its history dates back to 1834 when it was founded as 'Jordbærkælderen' (The Strawberry Cellar) by J.L. Andersen in the center of Copenhagen. The brand is famous for its traditional production method, where fruits are processed in open kettles to preserve their natural texture and flavor, maintaining a 'handmade' quality.

While the brand maintains its deep Danish heritage, it has been under international ownership for several decades. Since 1993, it has been part of Orkla Foods Denmark, a subsidiary of the Norwegian conglomerate Orkla ASA. The majority of production for the Danish market still takes place locally at their facilities in Denmark, particularly at the site in Ringe on Funen, ensuring the continuation of its historical craftsmanship.
