AEG (Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft) is a historic German brand with a legacy dating back to its founding by Emil Rathenau in 1883 in Berlin. Originally established as the German Edison Company, it became a global powerhouse in electrical engineering, pioneering everything from power plants to the first fully automatic washing machines. The company's identity was famously shaped by the architect Peter Behrens, who is considered the founder of modern industrial design.

Following various corporate restructurings and acquisitions by Daimler-Benz in the late 20th century, the AEG household appliance division (AEG Hausgeräte) was acquired by the Swedish multinational Electrolux in 1994. Today, AEG remains one of Electrolux's most prestigious premium brands. While it maintains its German engineering roots and design philosophy, manufacturing is distributed globally. Production takes place across various Electrolux facilities in Europe (such as Germany, Italy, and Poland) as well as in Asia (China and Southeast Asia) to serve international markets.
