The Nio ET5T is a premium smart electric touring car, originally launched as the ET5 Touring before being rebranded for the global market. It is a variant of the ET5 executive sedan, designed to combine high-performance electric power with the practicality of a station wagon. The vehicle is part of Nio's second-generation platform (NT 2.0/2.5), featuring advanced autonomous driving hardware and the brand's signature battery-swapping technology.

Manufacturing takes place at Nio's advanced production facilities in Hefei, Anhui province, China. These plants are operated in collaboration with the JAC Group, a state-owned automotive manufacturer, though Nio has increasingly taken direct control of its manufacturing assets and quality management processes to maintain its premium brand standards.

Nio was founded in 2014 by entrepreneur William Li and is headquartered in Shanghai. The company has evolved from a startup into a global intelligent electric vehicle leader with research and development centers across China, Europe, and the United States. As a publicly traded company listed on the NYSE, HKEX, and SGX, its ownership is distributed among institutional investors, strategic partners like Tencent, and state-backed entities, including a significant investment from the Emirate of Abu Dhabi via its investment vehicle.
