Prysmian Group is a global leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, tracing its heritage back to the late 19th century. The brand's journey began in 1879 as Pirelli Cavi e Sistemi, a division of the renowned Italian Pirelli Group. Over more than a century, it established itself as a pioneer in submarine and underground cabling, laying essential telegraph and electrical networks across Europe and beyond.

In 2005, the company underwent a major transformation when Goldman Sachs Capital Partners acquired Pirelli's cable business, officially rebranding it as Prysmian. Since then, the group has significantly expanded through strategic acquisitions, most notably the Dutch company Draka in 2011 and the American giant General Cable in 2018. These mergers have solidified its position as the world's largest cable manufacturer by revenue, serving critical sectors such as renewable energy, digital communications, and electrification.

Today, Prysmian operates as a public company with a 100% free float on the Milan Stock Exchange, meaning it has no single controlling shareholder. Its manufacturing footprint is truly global, with over 100 production facilities and dozens of research and development centers spread across more than 50 countries, including significant operations in Italy, Germany, the United States, and Brazil.
