Winston Blue cigarettes

Winston is a globally recognized cigarette brand, first introduced in 1954 by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in the United States. Named after the town of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, it quickly gained popularity as the first nationally successful filtered cigarette. In 1966, Winston became the best-selling cigarette brand in the world, a position it maintained for several years.

Over the decades, the ownership of the brand has split. While the brand is owned by Imperial Brands (specifically through its subsidiary ITG Brands) within the United States, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) acquired the international rights in 1999. In the German market, Winston products are typically manufactured by JTI Germany at their production site in Trier, which serves as one of JTI's most modern factories and a major export hub.

The packaging shown features mandatory European health warnings in German, such as "Rauchen mindert Ihre Fruchtbarkeit" (Smoking reduces your fertility), which is standard for tobacco products sold in Germany and Austria. Despite its American roots and name, the product in the image is produced and distributed under the international stewardship of the Japan-based conglomerate.
