Lakrids by Bülow Salt & Caramel chocolate-coated liquorice

Lakrids by Bülow is a premium Danish confectionery brand renowned for its gourmet liquorice. Founded in 2007 by Johan Bülow on the island of Bornholm, the company pioneered the concept of chocolate-coated liquorice.

The brand has grown from a small artisanal shop to a global player, with its largest international market being Germany. In August 2025, it was announced that the Chinese private equity firm IDG Capital would acquire a majority stake in the company from the Swedish investment firm Valedo Partners. Despite the change in ownership, the brand remains deeply rooted in its Danish heritage. All production continues to take place at its dedicated factory in Hvidovre, just outside Copenhagen, Denmark.
